Golden Orb

Golden Orb is an award-winning indie games studio located in the beautiful Ruhr area of Germany. Its founders, and also the core development team, are:

Katie - She is Golden Orb’s pixel-pirate and creates the hand-drawn look of our games. On her journey she gathered some experience in LARP, loves minimalism, zero waste and lives a vegan lifestyle.

Sonja - As our bit-smith she takes care of everything that falls into the fabled field of programming. She is also a dedicated writer, played a dwarven princess in The Dark Eye and loves to climb in RL nature.

Our professional gaming journey started roughly around 2008 at a Cologne based development studio. In spring 2018, after having worked for a decade as employees on various game projects, we felt ready to start our own studio. Passionate as we are about our work, we wanted to commit fulltime right from the start. So we quit our secure jobs, took out a bank loan, bravely tackled the intimidating heap of paperwork involved in founding a company and got to work. We haven’t stopped since.

Currently we are working on "Siebenstreich's Nerdventure" - a hand-drawn, nerd-friendly 2D adventure about sustainability in times of magic.
